Induction of Bro. Alonza A. Bennett into the Omega GA Hall of Fame

On December 5, 2024, at the International Headquarters, Decatur Georgia, Bro. Alonza A. Bennett was inducted into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Georgia State Organization Hall of Fame with a prestigious ceremony hosted by the Kappa Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. Bro. David Jones, the 19th Georgia State Representative, and approximately 200 brothers were in attendance. Bro. Bennett’s contributions and induction have been reserved and chronicled with the Inaugural Class of Brothers who have significantly influenced and impacted Omega in the State of Georgia (GSO).
The 2024 GSO Hall of Fame Class includes Bro. Bennett, the late Bro. Ronald J. Taylor, the late Bro. David L. Brown, and Bro. Dr. Samuel Jolley. Since being established in 1963 and formally incorporated in 1980, the GSO itself comprises 46 chapters and more than 10,000 members, and has been the largest and most productive state organization within the 7th District (which is comprised of Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi). This commemorative award included a complementary distinct engraved Omega Ring, Brother Bennett’s picture and accomplishments on the State Website, and a sprawling Gold Jacket which Bro. Bennett slipped into after it was presented by Bro. Jones at the Ceremony. At a minimum, an Omega man must have a minimum of 25 consecutive years of active (?nancial) service in the Fraternity to be eligible for the GSO HOF.
Brother Bennett received his 50 years of devotion and service to the Fraternity during the 82nd Grand Conclave which was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic in July 2020. He holds an Omega Life Membership# 2309. On September 22, 1979, Brother Bennett was one of the 12 charter members of the Kappa Alpha Alpha Chapter established in Decatur, Georgia, and was the Chapter’s 1st Basileus. Also, he won the chapter’s Omega Man of The Year Award for 1981, 1983 and 1995, and earned the Superior Service Award in 1982, 1984, and 1985. Bro Bennett has overseen 26 basileis and 142 brothers from 1981 to 2022 initiated into Omega through KAA and continues to build bridges for those in the chapter and the Fraternity as a whole.
