February 6, 2025, Decatur, GA -- A tribute for Bro. Bennett’s extraordinary lifetime service to the community was a welcome surprise to the Chapter’s agenda at a recent meeting at Omega’s IHQ. Chapter Bro. Carlos Jackson ushered in this occasion when he introduced his parents Mr. & Mrs. Nathaniel and Brenda Jackson to the general body. The Jackson’s, who are longstanding activists’ icons in the Dekalb County community, presented to Bro. Bennett one of the highest volunteer service awards signed by the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden.

Mrs. Jackson then read President Biden’s Congratulatory Letter, which included the following remarks, “The American story depends on not only on one of us, not on some of us, but all of us! I congratulate you on taking it upon yourself to contribute to the public good, and I am proud to present you with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of your 25,000 hours of service to this great Nation. By sharing your time and passion, you are helping discover and deliver solutions to the challenges we face – solutions that we need now more than ever. We are living in a moment that calls for hope, light and love. Hope for our future, light to see our way forward, and love for one another. Through your service, you are providing all the above.”

“On behalf of the American people, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to you for your volunteer leadership, and I encourage you to continue to answer the call to serve. The country is counting on you.”  Joseph R. Biden, Jr. 2024

Along with the letter, Bro. Bennett received a personalized certificate, an official pin and a Gold Medallion (worn around the neck). He earned the highest level of this award which also consists of bronze, silver and gold. Bro. Bennett enjoys this achievement after he was freshly inducted into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, State of Georgia (GSO) Hall of Fame in December 2024 by Bro. David Jones, the 19th Georgia State Representative, at an occasion witnessed by approximately 250 brothers at IHQ. Under the current KAA leadership of Bro. Basileus Tim Roberson and Bro. Vice Basileus Clinton Raines, the brothers gave several brotherly applauses and gripped up Bro. Bennett in acknowledgment for this high achievement.
